All our conservation work, including this project, is born of our love for Africa and our need to protect it. Become a part of preserving Africa’s legacy for future generations.

Respecting and reviving local identity, wisdom, and culture; encouraging the involvement of people in shaping their community and creating a new culture of sustainability.

As this is such a significant aspect of Singita’s operations, this principle is predominantly managed under the umbrella of Community by our community partnerships teams.

Besides the community programs, which take place in the communities surrounding our lodges, we also strive to keep local culture alive within our lodges through design and décor, drawing on local artists and artisans to ensure the authenticity of design. We encourage the expression of local culture through language, arts, and dance and we introduce it into the guest experience.

It is critical that all our staff understand and are therefore empowered and inspired to make independent decisions to reduce their ecological footprint, both at work and at home. To encourage this behaviour we run events throughout the year focused on the principles of our ‘One Planet Living’ framework. Although these events are foremost fun, they are also informative and bring our staff together by promoting a culture of sustainability.
